Name: H.E Wiseman
Born: London, 1990.
Lives and works in London.
After completing her Foundation at the prestigious Camberwell College of Art in London, Wiseman undertook her BA hons Fine Art (International) at the University of Leeds (a faculty that is renowned for its intellectual approach to artistic study) and was taught by academics such as Dr. Griselda Pollock and Dr. Eric Prenowitz. Whilst at Leeds, Wiseman was awarded an Erasmus grant to study for a year at the famous L'École Supérieure d’Art et Design in Grenoble, France. This year proved highly influential to Wiseman’s artistic practice, as were her lessons with the artists Marc Borjon and Bernard Joisten. The work of Hélène Cixous, Jacques Derrida and Kader Attia form a significant triad of inspiration, which constantly comes into play within Wiseman’s pieces.
H.E Wiseman has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, in both solo and group shows. Wiseman’s work has appeared in the Evening Standard and the Yorkshire Post and has pieces held within private collections in London. Her written work on the philosophy and theory of art have appeared in such publications such as ‘The Debut Series 2013’, ‘£383,911.73 Exhibition Catalogue’ and ‘An Anthology of Current Practice’ and she was featured in Le Dauphiné Libéré (French Newspaper).
H.E Wiseman was shortlisted for the Vantage Art Prize in 2013 and is a founding member of the curatorial collective, VERB.
